Career Opportunities

The Balanced Kid, Inc.

Where exceptional occupational therapists grow, children thrive, and families feel supported.

For occupational therapists who believe meaningful relationships are just as important as clinical expertise—and who want to practice with purpose, integrity, curiosity, and excellence.

Welcome!

When I founded The Balanced Kid, Inc. in April of 2018, my vision was never simply to open another pediatric occupational therapy practice.

I wanted to build a place where children and families would receive the highest quality care possible, where therapists would be deeply supported in becoming exceptional clinicians, and where relationships would always remain at the heart of our work.

I believe pediatric occupational therapy is one of the most meaningful professions in healthcare. It requires equal parts science, creativity, curiosity, humility, compassion, and clinical reasoning. It asks us to continually learn, reflect, collaborate, and grow - not only as therapists, but as people.

At The Balanced Kid, we intentionally invest in our therapists because we know that when clinicians are supported, children thrive and families flourish.

We are intentionally small so we can remain deeply invested in every child, every family, and every member of our team.

If you’re looking for a place where you’ll be challenged, encouraged, mentored, and inspired to become the very best version of yourself while making a meaningful difference every day, we’d be honored to meet you.

I hope you’ll consider joining us as we continue shaping the future of pediatric occupational therapy - one child, one family, and one meaningful relationship at a time.

Pediatric Occupational Therapist (Full-Time & Part-Time)

Join a Practice Where Clinical Excellence, Relationships, and Purpose Come First

At The Balanced Kid, Inc., we believe pediatric occupational therapy has the power to change the trajectory of a child’s life. Every discovery call, every evaluation, every treatment session, every parent conversation, and every professional relationship matters.

We are an occupational therapist-owned, boutique pediatric occupational therapy practice serving children and families throughout the western suburbs of Chicago, with locations in North Naperville and Westmont.

What makes us different is not simply what we do - it’s how we do it.

Our practice was built on the belief that children deserve individualized, thoughtful, evidence-based occupational therapy rooted in Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) and relationship-based approaches.

Our work is grounded in science, guided by thoughtful clinical reasoning, and inspired by meaningful relationships. We believe the very best outcomes occur when evidence-based practice is paired with deep clinical expertise, genuine curiosity, playfulness, compassion, and authentic partnerships with children and their families.

We value clinical excellence over convenience, quality over quantity, and meaningful therapeutic relationships that support lasting outcomes. Integrity, collaboration, humility, and lifelong learning are at the heart of every decision we make.

If you are looking for a practice where quality of care always comes first - where children, families, and therapists are genuinely valued, challenged, and supported - you may have found your professional home.

Our Clinical Philosophy

At The Balanced Kid, we specialize in helping children build the foundational skills and abilities necessary for meaningful participation in everyday life.

Our areas of expertise include:

  • Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI)

  • Sensory processing and sensory integration

  • Self-regulation and sensory modulation

  • Postural organization and motor development

  • Praxis and motor planning

  • Executive functioning

  • Emotional regulation and coping

  • Social participation and shared attention

  • Play and occupational engagement

  • Parent coaching and family collaboration

  • Professional collaboration

Our work is grounded in understanding the whole child—their strengths, interests, nervous system, family, school, and community. Every evaluation and treatment plan is individualized, collaborative, and designed to support meaningful participation across home, school, and community environments.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking both experienced pediatric occupational therapists and newer graduates who are passionate about learning and committed to becoming exceptional clinicians.

Whether you have years of pediatric experience or are just beginning your professional journey, what matters most is your commitment to:

  • Providing exceptional, individualized care

  • Practicing with integrity and professionalism

  • Building meaningful relationships with children and families

  • Continually learning and growing as a clinician

  • Collaborating with an experienced, dynamic and supportive team

  • Using thoughtful clinical reasoning grounded in evidence

  • Bringing creativity, empathy, curiosity, safety and joy into every treatment session

While certification in Ayres Sensory Integration® is not required, a genuine passion for developing expertise in Ayres Sensory Integration® theory and relationship-based pediatric practice is essential. We are looking for therapists who value clinical excellence and are committed to continually deepening their knowledge, skills and abilities throughout their careers.

At The Balanced Kid, our goal is not simply to hire occupational therapists—we are intentional about cultivating exceptional pediatric clinicians who are committed to lifelong learning, clinical excellence, and becoming leaders within our profession. We believe that when therapists are deeply supported, continually challenged, and inspired to grow, children and families receive the highest quality care possible.

For therapists newer to pediatric practice, we provide meaningful mentorship programs designed to build confidence, strengthen clinical reasoning, and foster long-term professional growth - not simply orientation. Through mentorship, collaboration, reflective practice, and advanced clinical learning, we strive to help every therapist develop into the very best version of themselves as both a clinician and a person.

Our Promise to You

At The Balanced Kid, we believe exceptional pediatric occupational therapy begins by investing in exceptional therapists.

If you join our team, we promise to invest in you just as intentionally as we ask you to invest in the children and families we serve.

We promise to:

  • Foster a culture rooted in trust, integrity, kindness, humility, and mutual respect.

  • Encourage curiosity, thoughtful clinical reasoning, reflective practice, and lifelong learning.

  • Provide meaningful mentorship that supports both your professional and personal growth.

  • Challenge and support you in becoming the strongest clinician you can be while honoring your unique strengths, interests, and authentic therapeutic style.

  • Value collaboration over competition, recognizing that the very best care is achieved when we learn from, encourage, and inspire one another.

  • Celebrate creativity, playfulness, joy, and connection - the qualities that make pediatric occupational therapy such a meaningful profession.

  • Support thoughtful, individualized care by ensuring clinical reasoning, meaningful therapeutic relationships, and each child’s unique needs remain at the center of every clinical decision.

  • Create an environment where questions are welcomed, ideas are shared openly, and every team member feels heard, respected, and empowered to contribute.

  • Encourage a healthy work-life balance while cultivating a workplace where people feel connected, appreciated, inspired, and genuinely excited to come to work each day.

Above all, we promise never to lose sight of why we chose this profession.

We believe pediatric occupational therapy is both a science and an art—grounded in science, guided by thoughtful clinical reasoning, and inspired by meaningful relationships. Every child deserves individualized care, every family deserves to feel heard and supported, and every therapist deserves the opportunity to continually grow, be challenged, and do work that is both deeply meaningful and professionally fulfilling.

When therapists are supported, children flourish. When therapists continue learning, families benefit. And when we remain committed to excellence, integrity, curiosity, and compassion, we help strengthen not only the lives of the children we serve - but the future of our profession itself.

That belief has shaped The Balanced Kid since its founding and continues to guide every decision we make.

If This Sounds Like You…

If you’ve been searching for a practice where relationships matter just as much as clinical excellence…where evidence-based practice, integrity, and compassionate care go hand in hand…where mentorship is intentional…and where quality is never compromised - we would love to meet you.

We are not simply hiring another occupational therapist.

We are looking for someone who wants to build a meaningful career, contribute to an exceptional team, continually grow as a clinician, and make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families.

At The Balanced Kid, we believe pediatric occupational therapy is both a science and an art. We are committed to preserving the integrity of our profession through exceptional clinical reasoning, meaningful relationships, lifelong learning, and unwavering dedication to the children and families we have the privilege to serve.

Our mission extends beyond helping children achieve milestones - we strive to empower children to participate more fully in the occupations that bring purpose, connection, confidence, and joy to their everyday lives. We believe the strongest outcomes emerge when therapists, children, and families work together through authentic partnership, trust, and shared understanding.

If this philosophy resonates with you, we would be honored to get to know you.

Together, let’s continue shaping the future of pediatric occupational therapy—one child, one family, and one meaningful relationship at a time.

Where exceptional therapists grow, children thrive, and families feel supported.

Let’s find our Balance together.
